Financial Aid Process
Liberty University Online students may be eligible for federal and state aid programs
Planning to enroll in our Fall, Spring or Summer 2009-10 Terms?
To be considered for federal financial aid (including loans) in our 2009-10 school year, you must complete the 2009-10 FAFSA using your 2008 federal tax return information.
The following outlines the steps that are necessary to apply for all financial aid:
1. Apply for Federal Student Aid
2. Apply for Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG) Virginia residents only
3. Apply for Stafford Loan
4. Review Student Aid Report (SAR)
5. Review Award Letter
Step 1. Apply for Federal Student Aid
Within the completion of your online FAFSA, request for the Department of Education to submit data from your completed FAFSA application to Liberty University. To do so, simply list Liberty University (school code 010392) in the required section located at the beginning of the FAFSA application. When first beginning the FAFSA, make sure you have acquired your PIN (Personal Identification Number) through the link provided below.

If you have been chosen for verification, click on the link below to access and complete the required verification worksheets.
Step 2. Apply for Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG)
This grant is only available to Virginia residents. Review the VTAG Application for details and deadlines. To Apply for the VTAG, the application must be printed, completed in full, and then mailed to the financial aid office:

Step 3. Apply for a Loan (Online)
Liberty University accepts loans to help pay for your education. Review our loan options below for more information, or to apply.

Step 4. Receive Your Student Aid Report (SAR)
Liberty University, as well as yourself, will receive a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR). The information provided within your SAR will be used to determine your financial award for the entire academic year. After your financial aid award is determined, we will send you an official email award notice listing all estimated financial aid for which you are eligible to receive.
Students will be packaged based off all official transcripts received. If a student has only unofficial transcripts on file, student will be packaged with freshman status.
Step 5. Review Your Award Letter online
To review your financial aid award letter online, login to your ASIST account and then click on Student & Financial Aid. Click on Financial Aid and then review your official financial aid awards. Notify financial aid of any necessary changes.
